European Command Mission Overview

U.S. European Command (USEUCOM) provides command and control of U.S. military forces in Europe to protect and defend the U.S. and its NATO Allies and partners through deterrence, peacekeeping, and military operations. The area of responsibility covers the Euro-Atlantic region, including NATO partner nations, European energy infrastructure, and the maritime approaches of the Baltic, Black, and Mediterranean Seas. Headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, the command operates through six service component commands.

USEUCOM coordinates joint and multinational training, provides military assistance to partner nations, and fosters military-to-military relationships across its area of responsibility. Current lines of effort include support to NATO deterrence posture against Russia, assistance to the defense of Israel, and large-scale combined exercises such as DEFENDER 25 with Allies and partners. The command focuses on maintaining agility in a dynamic security environment and on continued integration with NATO planning and infrastructure.
