How Alert Categories Work

Each alert published on Defcon Level is assigned a primary category based on its operational domain. Maritime alerts track naval activity and sea-lane chokepoints. Counterterrorism covers strikes and threat advisories. Military operations includes active deployments and defense exercises. Categories reflect how the U.S. military organizes its global responsibilities across combatant commands.

Alerts can also be browsed by combatant command region, viewed on the conflict map, or filtered by priority level on the raised alerts page.
