162nd Wing:
"MORRIS AIR NATIONAL GUARD BASE, Ariz. โ For U.S. Air National Guard Sgt. Ryon Grant, a vehicle maintenance technician assigned to the 162nd Logistics Readiness Squadron, Arizona Air National Guard, keeping vehicles operational is more than a daily responsibility. It is an essential part of supporting the wingโs flying mission and continuing a family tradition of military service.
With multiple generations of his family having served at the 162nd Wing, Grantโs connection to the unit extends beyond his own military career. His family, fellow Airmen and enjoyment of his work continue to motivate his service.
โIโve had multiple generations of family out here at the 162nd,โ Grant said. โI really like my job and coworkers in VM.โ
As a vehicle maintenance technician, Grant helps ensure petroleum, oils and lubricants (POL) support vehicles remain operational. His responsibilities also include monitoring training progress and promoting workplace safety.
His technical expertise has contributed to the maintenance of R-11 aircraft refueling vehicles. Grant spearheaded 12 critical maintenance repairs that supported the dispensing of approximately 2.6 million gallons of Jet-A aviation fuel during the reporting quarter.
Beyond maintenance, Grant serves as a unit training monitor, helping fellow Airmen maintain training records and track their professional development.
Although Grant does not identify one particular moment as the highlight of his military career, he finds satisfaction in returning repaired vehicles to the Airmen who depend on them.
For Grant, the importance of vehicle maintenance comes down to a simple understanding of how his work supports the mission.
โIf vehicles are not fixed, jets donโt fly,โ Grant said.
Through his technical expertise, commitment to safety and dedication to fellow Airmen, Grant demonstrates how vehicle maintenance personnel contribute to the operational readiness of the 162nd Wing."
