Commander Navy Region Hawaii:
"JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR-HICKAM, Hawaii โ The U.S. Navy and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) formally withdrew the Final Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) covering Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) and Kokee Park Geophysical Observatory (KPGO) Nov. 5 and will amend the Final EIS before resubmitting in 2027 to the Department of Land and Natural Resources (DLNR).
โWe recognize we have an important opportunity to further enhance the EIS,โ said Rear Adm. Rich Jarrett, commander, Navy Region Hawaii. โThe feedback we received has been valuable, and we are ready to put in extra effort to identify ways to further develop and refine the document, building on the significant work we have completed to date.โ
Continuing important collaborative efforts, the Navy and NASA will work closely with the community and with DLNR throughout the EIS process regarding State-leased lands on Kauai. As part of this coordination, the Navy and NASA have been and will continue to be responsive to DLNRโs requests for clarification and information. The community will have an opportunity for public comment."
