The attack targeted a camp associated with Iranian Kurdish opposition groups operating in the semi-autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The Kurdistan Freedom Party reported the attack at 9:45 PM local time, involving at least four missiles and drones.
Kurdistan Freedom Party Blames Iranian Government For The Strike
The Kurdistan Freedom Party blamed Iran’s government directly for the strike, stating it occurred “despite the US-Iran ceasefire that took effect April 8, 2026.”
The party noted a documented pattern of hundreds of such attacks on its bases and other Iranian Kurdish opposition camps in the Kurdistan Region since late February, resulting in dozens killed and hundreds wounded.
No group has claimed responsibility for the strike. The attack fits a documented pattern of strikes on Iranian opposition camps in the Kurdistan Region that has continued since February, though this specific incident so far remains unattributed.
