* IMPACTS...Sustained winds of 150 kt with gusts to 180 kt near the center. Seas of up to 45 feet near the storm center.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Typhoon conditions, including winds of 64 knots or more, are expected within the next 24 hours as Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) approaches the region. Bavi, now a Category 5 Super Typhoon, continues to strengthen and is expected to pass through the Marianas at Category 5 strength. However, there is still uncertainty as to which islands will receive the strongest impacts. The latest model guidance continues to indicate a path near or just north of Rota, but the forecast track will see adjustments over the next 48 hours. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Winds will increase to catastrophic levels, especially near the center of Bavi. Additionally, storm surge of up to 4 feet near the center, coastal inundation from runup, and 5 to 10 inches of rain with locally higher amounts will add to the hazards.

* WHEN...Damaging winds expected from late Sunday afternoon through early Tuesday morning. Destructive typhoon force winds expected early Monday morning through early Monday afternoon with the passage of Super Typhoon Bavi.
* IMPACTS...Sustained winds of 150 kt with gusts to 180 kt near the center. Seas of up to 45 feet near the storm center.
* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Typhoon conditions, including winds of 64 knots or more, are expected within the next 24 to 48 hours as Super Typhoon Bavi (09W) approaches the region. Bavi, now a Category 5 super typhoon, continues to strengthen and is expected to pass through the Marianas at Category 5 strength. However, there is still uncertainty as to which islands will receive the strongest impacts. The latest model guidance continues to indicate a path near or just north of Rota, but the forecast track will see adjustments over the next 48 hours. At 132 AM CDT, local law enforcement in Nevada reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. This was causing unusual street flooding in Nevada in locations that do not typically experience this level of flooding. This has caused a vehicle to get stuck in a couple feet of water. Between 2 and 4.5 inches of rain have fallen with some of the highest amounts over northern Ames. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Rainfall rates should subside through 330 AM EDT, but the threats of flooding and flash flooding continue.

Reading the Confidence Chip
Each alert carries one chip that tells you its reliability level at a glance:
- Tier 1: Highest confidence. Confirmed by multiple authoritative or official sources.
- Tier 2: Strong but still developing. Backed by credible sources, with verification ongoing.
- Multi-source: Cleared sourcing, consistency, and accuracy checks; corroborated by independent reports.
Every item also clears the same checks before publishing, whichever chip it carries; the box above explains what "cleared" means. Sourcing detail (how many independent reports, whether it is a primary/official source) is shown per-alert in its "Sources" line.
How to Use This Feed
- Scan fast: The title, timestamp, and chips give you everything you need without reading the full alert.
- Trust the chip: Tier 1 and Tier 2 mean confirmed by multiple sources, at different confidence levels. Multi-source means corroborated but not yet at tier confidence. Each alert's "Sources" line spells out the detail.
