JALISCO STATE, MEXICO - Criminal groups established roadblocks with burning vehicles in multiple cities across Jalisco State, including the resort destination of Puerto Vallarta, following a Mexican army operation in Tapalpa municipality on February 22.

Shootouts with security forces and explosions occurred in the area. A shelter-in-place order took effect in Puerto Vallarta, with all taxi and rideshare services suspended until further notice. The events prompted flight cancellations by several airlines serving Puerto Vallarta. Violence disrupted normal activities in a region that attracts large numbers of international tourists.

EASTERN AFGHANISTAN - Pakistan’s armed forces carried out intelligence-based airstrikes targeting seven terrorist camps and hideouts along the Afghanistan border late on February 21.  The operation, described by Pakistani officials as selective and precision-guided, responded to a series of suicide bombings inside Pakistan during Ramadan, including attacks on an Imam Bargah in Islamabad and security targets in Bajaur and Bannu districts.

Pakistani Information Minister Attaullah Tarar confirmed the strikes hit facilities linked to the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP, referred to by Islamabad as Fitna al Khwarij), its affiliates, and the Islamic State Khorasan Province (ISKP).

MIDDLE EAST - The United States has positioned naval and air assets in the Middle East at a level enabling potential strikes on Iranian targets as soon as this weekend, according to administration and Pentagon officials.

The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group operates in the Arabian Sea, the USS Gerald R. Ford carrier strike group transits from the Caribbean, and dozens of F-35, F-22, and F-16 fighters have deployed to regional bases alongside B-2 bombers on heightened alert.

SOMALIA - On February 13, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS-Somalia militants in the Gollis Mountains, roughly 31 miles (50 kilometers) southeast of Bossaso, in partnership with Somalia’s federal government.

This operation supports Somali-led efforts to counter terrorist threats in the region. At the same time, Somali National Army forces, aided by African Union troops, continued progress under Operation Hidden Sword in Lower Shabelle, including a joint raid on January 15, in Bulunagaad that neutralized over 30 Al-Shabaab militants and captured weapons stockpiles.

MIDDLE EAST - U.S. Central Command forces conducted 10 strikes against more than 30 ISIS targets in Syria between February 3 and 12, delivering precision munitions via fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft to dismantle infrastructure and weapons storage sites.

These operations extend prior actions from January 27 to February 2 that targeted a communication site, logistics node, and storage facilities, resulting in the destruction of critical assets.

CARIBBEAN SEA - Lance Cpl. Chukwuemeka E. Oforah, a 21-year-old infantry rifleman from Florida, was declared deceased on February 10 following an extensive 72-hour search and rescue operation after he fell overboard from the USS Iwo Jima on the evening of February 7.

​The incident occurred while the vessel was conducting routine operations in the Caribbean Sea as part of the Iwo Jima Amphibious Ready Group and 22nd Marine Expeditionary Unit deployment.

​SOUTHEASTERN IRAN - An explosion was reported striking around a military convoy in the Mahmoudabad area of Iranshahr, Sistan-Baluchistan province, on February 11, destroying at least two armored vehicles according to local reports.

The sound of the blast was heard across the city, leading to an increased deployment of military and security forces at the scene.

PAPUA, INDONESIA - Indonesian police reported that two pilots were killed after unknown assailants opened fire on a civilian airplane shortly after it landed at Korowai airport in Boven Digoel, South Papua province.

The incident occurred at approximately 11:00 a.m. local time, involving a Cessna Caravan operated by Smart Air, which was carrying 13 passengers. The pilots and passengers exited the aircraft and sought cover in a nearby forested area, but the pilot and co-pilot were subsequently located and killed by the attackers.

EAST CHINA SEA - Four Chinese Coast Guard vessels entered Japan's territorial waters near the Senkaku Islands on February 10, according to Japan Coast Guard reports, while China described the activity as patrols in its territorial waters around the Diaoyu Islands. 

Two vessels were observed west of Uotsuri Island, the largest in the chain, shortly after 4 p.m. within the 12-nautical-mile zone. The other two were noted near Taisho, the easternmost islet. The vessels departed after approximately two hours, with those near Uotsuri exiting southwest of Minamikojima and the others southeast of Taisho.

SOMALIA - In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting al-Shabaab on February 9, in the vicinity of southern Somalia, approximately 32 miles (51 kilometers) northeast of Kismayo.

This operation continues efforts to degrade al-Shabaab’s ability to threaten U.S. forces and citizens abroad. The initial assessment indicates no civilian casualties.

SOMALIA - On February 10, Somali Danab Special Forces, in coordination with Jubaland State security forces, conducted a targeted operation against Al-Shabaab militants in areas around Jamaame in Lower Juba region.

This military action resulted in 14 militants killed, one injured, and the rest fleeing, according to the Somalian Ministry of Defense, as part of broader efforts to dismantle terrorist networks in southern Somalia.

EASTERN PACIFIC - U.S. Southern Command authorized Joint Task Force Southern Spear to execute a lethal kinetic strike on February 9, targeting a vessel operated by designated terrorist organizations involved in narco-trafficking, resulting in two fatalities and one survivor who triggered a U.S. Coast Guard search and rescue response.

Intelligence verified the vessel navigated established smuggling paths in international waters. This incident follows previous operations, including strikes on February 5, January 23, and several in December, within heightened counter-narcotics campaigns.

ISLAMABAD, PAKISTAN - A suicide bomber detonated explosives at the entrance of the Khadijatul Kubra Mosque, a Shia place of worship in the Tarlai Kalan area of southeastern Islamabad near Shehzad Town, on February 6, resulting in at least 31 fatalities and over 169 injuries according to city officials and police sources.

The attack targeted worshipers gathered for Friday prayers, with the bomber intercepted by security personnel before entering the main hall. This incident marks one of the deadliest bombings in the capital in over a decade, prompting immediate emergency responses from local hospitals and security forces.

​U.S. Southern Command: "On Feb. 5, at the direction of SOUTHCOM Commander Gen. Francis L. Donovan, Joint Task Force Southern Spear conducted a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel operated by Designated Terrorist Organizations. Intelligence confirmed the vessel was transiting along known narco-trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and was engaged in narco-trafficking operations. Two narco-terrorists were killed during this action. No U.S. military forces were harmed."

MIDDLE EAST - On February 5, U.S. officials confirmed nuclear talks with Iran would proceed in Muscat, Oman, on February 6 at 10 a.m. local time, following a brief cancellation due to Tehran’s demands for a bilateral format and venue change from Istanbul.

President Trump maintained warnings to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, emphasizing Iran’s need to address its nuclear program, ballistic missiles, proxy support, and domestic policies.

SYRIA - U.S. Central Command forces conducted five strikes against ISIS targets across Syria from January 27 to February 2, destroying a communication site, a critical logistics node, and weapons storage facilities using 50 precision munitions delivered by fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and unmanned aircraft.

These actions continue Operation Hawkeye Strike, initiated on December 19, in response to the December 13, 2025, ambush in Palmyra that killed two U.S. service members and one American interpreter.

SOMALIA - In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, U.S. Africa Command conducted an airstrike targeting ISIS-Somalia operatives in the Golis Mountains on February 1.

The strike, authorized by Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, resulted in the deaths of multiple operatives with no civilian casualties reported.

STRAITS OF HORMUZ - Numerous small armed vessels hailed a merchant ship on very high frequency radio while it transited the inbound traffic separation scheme 16 nautical miles north of Oman.

The vessel ignored the request to stop and proceeded on its route without incident. Authorities launched an investigation into the matter.

MIDDLE EAST - Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian directed officials to resume nuclear negotiations with the United States on February 2, with discussions focusing on conditions without preconditions.​

​Regional mediators, including Oman, Turkey, and Russia, have facilitated efforts to prevent escalation. Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei stated that US military action would lead to a regional conflict, emphasizing Iran’s defensive posture.

Polish Operational Command: "On the night of February 1 to 2, 2026, the military radar systems of the Republic of Poland recorded incursions into Polish airspace by balloon-like objects. The scale of hybrid incidents on the Belarusian side was noticeably smaller compared to previous nights.

Cooperation between the Armed Forces of the Republic of Poland and the services responsible for state security enables those services to respond quickly, including taking over objects and detaining individuals suspected of these incidents.

MIDDLE EAST - On February 1 Iran’s parliament designated European Union armies as terrorist organizations under Article 7 of its counter-terrorism law, with Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf directing the National Security Commission to expel European military attachés from Tehran.

This measure counters the EU’s January 29 classification of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as a terrorist entity, prompted by Iran’s suppression of protests and regional destabilization.

MIDDLE EAST - U.S. Central Command issued a statement on January 30 urging the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps to conduct its announced two-day live-fire naval exercise in the Strait of Hormuz in a safe and professional manner to avoid risks to international maritime traffic.

This followed Iran’s announcement of the exercise scheduled to begin on February 1. Iranian Armed Forces deployed hundreds of fast attack craft and missile-launching vessels near USS Abraham Lincoln in the Arabian Sea on January 29, according to state-run reports.

SOMALIA - In coordination with the Federal Government of Somalia, United States Africa Command executed an airstrike against al-Shabaab militants on January 29, approximately 56 kilometers southwest of Mogadishu.

The operation formed part of a series that included 23 U.S. airstrikes in Somalia during January, aimed at degrading the group’s capabilities. No details on militant casualties appeared in official assessments.

MIDDLE EAST - U.S. Central Command confirmed the USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier is sailing in the Indian Ocean on January 26, as part of its deployment to the Middle East to promote regional security and stability.

​ This update comes amid Iran’s suppression of nationwide protests and riots that erupted on January 8, resulting in estimates ranging from 3,117 per state media to over 36,500 according to activist groups. President Donald J. Trump announced on January 13 that aid was forthcoming for protesters.

​NIGERIA - Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) conducted a suicide attack on a Nigerian Army position in the Timbuktu Triangle area of Borno State on January 22.

​The group claimed responsibility through propaganda channels, reporting 20 soldiers killed or wounded. Nigerian military sources confirmed heavy fighting but did not specify casualties.

EASTERN PACIFIC - Joint Task Force Southern Spear carried out a lethal kinetic strike on a vessel associated with designated terrorist organizations on January 23, under directives from Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

Intelligence evaluations established the vessel’s path along recognized narco-trafficking lanes and its participation in such activities.

SOMALIA AND NIGERIA - Somali security forces captured five militants in a targeted operation in Muqdisho on January 23 seizing explosives, weapons, and vehicles linked to Al-Shabaab and ISIS-Somalia, while a U.S. airstrike two days earlier in the Golis Mountains eliminated multiple ISIS operatives.

In northeastern Nigeria’s Borno State, a terrorist attack on a military center resulted in dozens of armed forces casualties, prompting airstrikes that killed over 40 militants and disrupted further assaults.
