Fort Jackson Public Affairs Office:
"The C.C. Pinckney Elementary School parking lot was full of color, Oct. 29 as the school and families came together for a safe trick or treat experience.
The C. C. Pinckney Parent Teacher Association sponsored event was lauded by faculty and parents as an important step towards bringing them together.
โI think itโs super important,โ said Natasha Kepler, a fourth grade teacher at the school. It โgets the parents involved with the teachers and the staff in a different light. I feel like that makes a big difference to see it not just as all classroom and all curriculum.โ
Jennifer Hyatt, PTA president and substitute teacher, agreed adding it really helps the children as well.
โItโs super important because these kids thrive on it,โ she said. โThese kids go through so many changes and deal with so many you know, like you said, moves and you were kind of uncertain and unknown, and so they move from place to place โฆ it helps these kids really kind of bond with each other and with the community, even if theyโre only here for a short time.โ
The event had a larger turnout than expected.
โI think itโs a bigger turnout than most of us expected,โ Kepler said. โI think itโs nice to see different faces that I donโt see every day.โ
If parents want to get more involved with their childโs education they can join the PTA.
โThey just need to contact us at our PTA email,โ Hyatt said. Itโs pta.ccpinckney@gmail.com, and we can send them links for joining the PTA.โ
The Pinckney PTA meets on Tuesdays of every month."
