"Master Sgt. Ethan Chesser, mission assurance and antiterrorism program manager with the 181st Security Forces Squadron, earned first place in The Adjutant Generalโs Match 2026 at Camp Atterbury, Edinburgh, Indiana.
The Indiana National Guard TAG Match promotes expert marksmanship, camaraderie and networking. The competition offers service members the opportunity to test marksmanship skills and weapon systems in a battle-focused environment while competing for the Indiana Governorโs Twenty tab.
The competition features three qualifying categories; pistol, rifle and overall. Every service member was individually assigned and responsible for a SIG Sauer M17 pistol and M4A1 carbine rifle during the weekend of the TAG match. Among 75 qualifying contestants in the Indiana Army and Air National Guard, Chesser earned first place in all three categories.
The requirements to qualify in the TAG match and compete for the Governorโs Twenty tab, awarded to the overall top 20 competitors, are to be a service member in their respective state, pass a medical screening prior to their arrival and have the equipment issued to them by their unit. Members of any career field and rank are eligible to compete.
During the competition, service members must wear the outlined uniform in the reporting instructions and may only use gear that has been issued to them by their units. At minimum, members must wear a pistol belt, load bearing harness/vest, hearing protection, an attachable water source, at least four pistol magazines, at least four rifle magazines, a pistol holster and pistols with retention device and at least two ammunition pouches."
