NWS / NOAA weather: Flash Flood Warning issued August 29 at 4:29PM MDT until August 29 at 6:45PM MDT by NWS Albuquerque NM
At 429 PM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated
thunderstorms producing heavy rain over the South Fork Burn Scar.
Between 0.5 and 0.75 inches of rain have fallen along Main Road in
the Upper Canyon area. Flooding impacts will continue, but no
additional rainfall is expected. Flash flooding is ongoing or
expected to begin shortly.
Excessive rainfall over the burn scar will impact Upper Canyon, Brady
Canyon, Perk Canyon, and Flume Canyon outlets into the Rio Ruidoso
drainage. Impacts will include but are not limited to all nearby
reservoirs, bridges, culverts and roadways. Impacts to areas along
the Rio Ruidoso may extend downstream of Ruidoso Downs. The debris
flow can consist of rock, mud, vegetation and other loose materials.
HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding in and around the South Fork Burn Scar.
