NWS / NOAA weather: Tornado Warning issued August 24 at 4:45PM EDT until August 24 at 5:00PM EDT by NWS Newport/Morehead City NC

At 444 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located near Atlantic, or near Cedar Island, moving east at 10
mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed. Damage
to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree damage is
likely.

This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
northeastern Carteret County.
