At 141 AM Edt, Doppler radar indicates heavy rain has exited the
warned area this morning. However, thunderstorms earlier this
evening produced between 4 and locally 7.5 inches of rain in eastern
Surry County, western Stokes County, and southwest Patrick County.
The heaviest rainfall has occurred in the Ararat River basin, which
is approaching a stage of 24 feet as of 130 AM. Both Surry County
and Stokes County Emergency Management staff reported that severe
flooding is occurring, with Big Creek observed well out of its banks
and flowing across both Old Asbury Road and Frans Road in the
Westfield area. Flooding is likely also occurring along Meadow
Branch and Pinch Gut Creek. Numerous swift water rescues have
occurred, and many rivers and creeks continue to rise as runoff
collects in the waterways.
IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses. Many
creeks and rivers are still rising despite heavy rain
having exited the warned area.

PERSIAN GULF - United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) received multiple third-party reports on October 26 of a vessel on fire 63 nautical miles southeast of Al-Faw, Iraq, with crew status, damage assessment, and environmental impact unknown at the time of the report.
MIDDLE EAST - Major General Turki Al-Malki, official spokesperson for the Saudi-led Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, stated on October 26 in releases carried by the Saudi Press Agency that coalition air defenses intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by the Houthi militia toward Riyadh. Al-Malki further stated that coalition forces destroyed two ballistic missile launchers in Sanaa, and that one of those launchers had been used to fire the missile directed at Riyadh. "Operations continue to dismantle the terrorist Houthi militia's ballistic missile network," Al-Malki said.
