U.S. and Saudi Forces Strike IRGC-Directed Sites in Eastern Iraq

MIDDLE EAST — On July 28, U.S. Central Command and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces conducted precision strikes against Iran-aligned terrorists that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps directed to attack U.S. forces and Saudi energy infrastructure.

U.S. and Saudi fighter aircraft struck multiple terrorist logistics and weapons sites across eastern Iraq in response to over 30 IRGC-directed aerial drone attacks in the last 72 hours.

According to U.S. Central Command, the attacks against U.S. forces were not successful.

From February through April 2026, there were more than 600 attempted attacks on U.S. citizens and facilities by Iran-aligned terrorist militias in Iraq.

CENTCOM said that The IRGC and its proxies must cease these attacks to avoid further U.S. military response.

U.S. and Saudi Joint Strikes on Eastern Iraq Sites

U.S. Central Command announced on July 29 that its forces and the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces carried out the July 28 precision strikes. The targets were logistics and weapons sites used by Iran-aligned groups under IRGC direction.

No specific site names, coordinates, battle damage assessments, or casualty figures were released by U.S. Central Command. No independent confirmation of the number of sites struck or the munitions employed has been published by any other official body.

Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry issued a separate statement on July 28 condemning continued drone launches by Iran-backed militias in Iraq that targeted oil facilities in the Eastern Province.

The statement reserved the right to respond at a time and place of Saudi choosing. No Saudi statement confirming participation in the July 28 strikes has been located.
