...SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS ON THURSDAY ACROSS FAR EASTERN OREGON
AND WESTERN IDAHO...
...HOT, DRY, AND WINDY FRIDAY AND SATURDAY...

.Scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across far
eastern Oregon and western Idaho this afternoon. Storms will be
capable of frequent lightning, gusty outflow winds, and only
sporadic wetting rains. While the thunderstorm threat will end by
Friday and Saturday, hot, dry, and windy conditions will develop,
primarily across southeast Oregon and the higher terrain of
southwest Idaho. The driest and windiest day at this time is
expected on Saturday.

The National Weather Service in Boise has issued a Red Flag
Warning for winds and low relative humidities, which is in effect
from 2 PM MDT /1 PM PDT/ Friday to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday.
The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* AFFECTED AREA...In Idaho, Fire Weather Zone 423 Owyhee
Mountains. In Oregon, Fire Weather Zones 672 Southern
Grasslands, 673 Central Canyonlands, 674 Northwestern Vale BLM
and 675 Baker Valley.

* TIMING...For the first Red Flag Warning, until 9 PM MDT /8 PM
PDT/ this evening. For the second Red Flag Warning, from 2 PM
MDT /1 PM PDT/ Friday to 9 PM MDT /8 PM PDT/ Saturday.

* THUNDERSTORMS...Scattered coverage with abundant lightning.

* OUTFLOW WINDS...Gusty erratic winds up to 50 mph.

* WINDS...For the second Red Flag Warning, Southwest 10 to 20 mph
with gusts up to 30 mph.

* RELATIVE HUMIDITY...For the second Red Flag Warning, 6 to 12
percent.

* IMPACTS...Any fire that develops will catch and spread
quickly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
