NWS / NOAA weather: Flash Flood Warning issued July 4 at 3:56AM CDT until July 4 at 8:15AM CDT by NWS Des Moines IA

At 356 AM CDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms producing
heavy rain across the warned area and is asking citizens to avoid
travel in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have
fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the
warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly.

HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms producing
flash flooding.

IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

Newton, Mitchellville, Colfax, Prairie City, Baxter, Iowa
Speedway, Rock Creek Lake, Kellogg, Gilman, Collins, Rhodes,
Mingo, Laurel, Lambs Grove, Valeria, Newton Municipal Airport,
Prairie City Krohn Airport and Rock Creek State Park.
