U.S. Interdicts Stateless, Sanctioned Dark Fleet Motor Tanker M/T Sophia

US SOUTHERN COMMAND - In a coordinated pre-dawn operation, the Department of War and the Department of Homeland Security successfully intercepted the stateless motor tanker M/T Sophia, a sanctioned vessel linked to dark fleet activities in the Caribbean Sea. The interdiction was carried out without incident in international waters, and the U.S. Coast Guard is now escorting the ship to the United States for final disposition.

In a pre-dawn action this morning, the Department of War, in coordination with the Department of Homeland Security, apprehended a stateless, sanctioned dark fleet motor tanker without incident. The interdicted vessel, M/T Sophia, was operating in international waters and conducting illicit activities in the Caribbean Sea. The U.S. Coast Guard is escorting M/T Sophia to the U.S. for final disposition.
