The United States has carried out large scale airstrikes against Venezuela. U.S. President Donald Trump said in a statement that the U.S. has captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, along with his wife, who have both been flown out of the country.
The United States has issued a new Notice To Airmen (NOTAM) prohibiting
U.S. aircraft from operating at any altitude within Venezuelan airspace.
The Venezuelan government has announced that the United States carried
out attacks on the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, as well as Miranda,
Aragua and Laguira. A state of emergency has been declared across the
country.
Statement from the Venezuelan government: โA popular military-police
force has been deployed to guarantee sovereignty and peace. The attempt
to impose a colonial war to destroy and change the republican system
will fail, just as previous attempts have failed. We call upon the
peoples and governments of Latin America and the world to mobilize and
stand in solidarity against imperialist aggression.โ
Venezuelan government: โVenezuela reserves its right to exercise
legitimate self-defense to protect its people, its territory and its
independence.โ
Cuban Foreign Minister: โWe strongly condemn the ongoing military aggression by the US against Venezuela. The bombings and acts of war against Caracas and other locations in the country are cowardly acts against a nation that has not attacked the US or any other country.โ
