MIDDLE EAST - GULF OF ADEN - A merchant vessel transiting waters approximately 15 nautical miles west of Yemen sighted multiple small craft that approached closely, leading to an exchange of fire.
The small craft departed the area following the engagement, with no casualties reported among the crew and the vessel proceeding to its next port of call.
This incident occurred in a strategically sensitive maritime corridor connecting the Red Sea to the Gulf of Aden, a route critical for global trade but subject to periodic security challenges.
