What This Map Tracks
The Global Conflict Map plots active military operations, geopolitical hotspots, cyber incidents, and critical infrastructure events worldwide. Data is compiled daily from primary sources including U.S. Department of Defense announcements, CISA cyber advisories, NATO position statements, and verified open-source intelligence reporting.
Marker categories distinguish active conflicts, ongoing military deployments, recent cyber incidents (under 30 days old), and strategic asset positions. Click any marker to access the underlying intelligence brief, source citations, and date-stamped event history.
For context on what current map activity means for U.S. defense readiness, see the Current DEFCON Level assessment. For market reaction to mapped events, see the Financial Impact Monitor.

Map FAQ
How often is map data updated?
Map data is reviewed and updated daily. Cyber incidents under 30 days old remain active markers; older incidents move to the archive layer. Active military operations and geopolitical events are updated as primary sources publish: the U.S. Department of Defense, CISA, NATO, and verified open-source reporting.
Where does the data come from?
All markers cite at least one primary source: official government statements, military press releases, CISA advisories, NATO position papers, or verified reporting from established defense and intelligence outlets. Click any marker to see the underlying source and the date of the original report.
What do the different marker colors mean?
Markers are categorized by event type: active conflicts, military operations and deployments, cyber incidents, and strategic asset positions such as carrier groups or missile defense sites. Color coding within the map legend identifies each category and the severity tier for active incidents.
Does this map replace the DEFCON Level?
No. The map shows the underlying events; the DEFCON Level page interprets them into a single readiness condition. The map is the raw event data; the Current DEFCON Level page is the assessed reading. They are designed to be used together.
Is the map mobile-friendly?
Yes. The map adapts to phone and tablet screens, and the fullscreen button expands it to fill the device viewport. Marker interaction works with touch as well as mouse.
