Biden Calls Putin War Criminal, Says He Needs To Stand Trial As One
WASHINGTON - U.S. President Joe Biden has again called Russian President a 'war criminal' and says that Putin must stand trial for the slaughter of civilians in Bucha. When he was asked whether he believed that the slaughter of civilians in Bucha was genocide, he stated "No, I think it is a war crime".
"He is a war criminal" Biden told reporters, referring to the deaths of 400 Ukrainian civilians in Kyiv and Bucha which is outside of Kyiv. Some footage shown of the alleged war crimes that took place show bodies of children.
Biden stated, "We have to get all the details so that we can have a war crimes trial. This guy is brutal and what’s happening in Bucha is outrageous" and said that he is considering placing more sanctions on Russia.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited Bucha on Sunday and stated that the massacre that happened there was a 'genocide' and called for more sanctions on Russia in response.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen put out a tweet on Monday saying that the European Union is ready to "send Joint Investigation Teams to document war crimes in coordination with the Ukrainian Prosecutor General". The previous day she called what allegedly happened in Bucha "unspeakable horrors" and said that "perpetrators of war crimes will be held accountable".
Many of the photos that came out of Ukraine that were released show mutilated bodies with their hands tied behind their backs and looked to have been executed. Some photos showed bodies in civilian clothing who looked to have been shot while riding a bicycle, laying on the ground and still wrapped up in the bicycle. Others showed what looked to be torture before the execution had taken place.
One photo showed the bodies of a man, woman and a naked child. We won't be delving into too much detail, or try to give explanations about who did it and why. Our job is to report the news and what is being said and let the reader decide what to believe.
