Satellite Photos Show China Building 119 Nuclear Silos In The Desert
CHINA - Satellite photos show 119 construction sites in the Chinese desert that resemble the same features as China's existing nuclear facilities, indicating that the communist state is building over 100 new nuclear silos.
The location of the new silo construction is in the desert close to the city of Yumen in Northwestern China. In total, the new silos in the desert bring the number of silos currently under construction by China to 145.
A defense department spokesman commented on the situation saying, "Defense Department leaders have testified and publicly spoken about China's growing nuclear capabilities, which we expect to double or more over the next decade".
It is estimated that China has between 250 and 350 missile silos presently. The new silos would give China a significant boost in their nuclear capability, but they are still vastly overshadowed by both the United States and Russia.
